Common Range & Oven Symptoms

  • Oven not heating or not reaching set temperature
  • Burners not igniting or not lighting on a gas range
  • Electric burners or surface elements not heating
  • Oven temperature running too hot or too cold
  • Self-clean cycle not working or door locking unexpectedly
  • Control panel not responding or displaying error codes
  • Oven light not working
  • Unusual smells, sparking, or visible damage to heating elements

Where to Find Your Range or Oven Model Number

On freestanding ranges, the model and serial number tag is typically located in the storage drawer area, on the back of the unit, or on the frame behind the door when opened. On wall ovens, check inside the oven door frame or on the side wall inside the oven cavity. On cooktops, the tag is often on the underside of the unit.

Please have both the model number and serial number ready when you call or submit your repair request. Also note whether your range or oven is gas or electric — this is important for diagnosis and parts ordering.

Information Needed to Schedule

  • Model number and serial number from the appliance tag
  • Brand and appliance type (freestanding range, wall oven, cooktop, slide-in range, etc.)
  • Whether the appliance is gas or electric
  • Description of the symptom — what it is doing or not doing
  • Any error codes displayed on the control panel
  • Your name, service address, phone number, and preferred contact method
  • Preferred service days or time windows

Gas Range Safety

Do not attempt DIY repairs on gas ranges or ovens. Gas line connections, igniters, and burner components must be serviced by a qualified technician. If you smell gas, leave the area immediately, do not operate any switches or open flames, and call your gas utility provider. Know the location of your gas shutoff valve before service.

Electrical Safety

Electric ranges and wall ovens require a 240V dedicated circuit. Do not attempt to repair electrical components yourself. Always disconnect power at the circuit breaker before inspecting any components, and call a qualified technician for diagnosis and repair.

Parts Availability

Not all parts are available for every model. Some older or discontinued models may have limited or no parts availability. In some cases, the cost of repair may exceed the value of the appliance — Dan's Appliance will advise you if a repair appears uneconomical before proceeding.

Manufacturer Warranty

If your range or oven is still under a manufacturer's warranty, that warranty may require service by an authorized provider. Check your warranty documentation before scheduling independent repair service to avoid voiding coverage.

Priority Scheduling

Existing customers and customers whose appliances were purchased from Dan's Appliance receive scheduling priority. When you call or submit a request, please let us know if you purchased your appliance from our store.
