Common Dryer Symptoms

  • Dryer not heating or producing insufficient heat
  • Dryer taking multiple cycles to dry clothes
  • Dryer not tumbling or drum not spinning
  • Dryer not starting or not responding to controls
  • Dryer shutting off before the cycle completes
  • Unusual noises — squealing, thumping, or grinding
  • Burning smell or excessive heat on the outside of the unit
  • Error codes displayed on the control panel

Where to Find Your Dryer Model Number

On most dryers, the model and serial number tag is located inside the door opening, on the door frame, or on the back panel of the unit. Some models have the tag on the inside of the door itself. The tag is usually a white or silver label with a barcode.

Please have both the model number and serial number ready when you call or submit your repair request. Also note whether your dryer is gas or electric — this is important for diagnosis and parts ordering.

Information Needed to Schedule

  • Model number and serial number from the appliance tag
  • Brand and dryer type (gas or electric, vented or ventless)
  • Description of the symptom — what it is doing or not doing
  • Any error codes displayed on the control panel
  • Whether the dryer vent has been recently cleaned
  • Your name, service address, phone number, and preferred contact method
  • Preferred service days or time windows

Gas Dryer Safety

Do not attempt DIY repairs on gas dryers. Gas line connections and burner components must be serviced by a qualified technician. If you smell gas, leave the area immediately, do not operate any switches, and call your gas utility provider. Know the location of your gas shutoff valve before service.

Electrical Requirements

Electric dryers require a 240V dedicated circuit. Do not attempt to repair electrical components yourself. Always unplug the appliance before inspecting any parts, and call a qualified technician for diagnosis and repair.

Venting Limitations

A clogged or restricted dryer vent is a common cause of heating problems and is a fire hazard. Dan's Appliance recommends having your dryer vent professionally cleaned regularly. Vent cleaning is a separate service from appliance repair.

Parts Availability

Not all parts are available for every model. Some older or discontinued models may have limited or no parts availability. In some cases, the cost of repair may exceed the value of the appliance — Dan's Appliance will advise you if a repair appears uneconomical before proceeding.

Manufacturer Warranty

If your dryer is still under a manufacturer's warranty, that warranty may require service by an authorized provider. Check your warranty documentation before scheduling independent repair service to avoid voiding coverage.

Priority Scheduling

Existing customers and customers whose appliances were purchased from Dan's Appliance receive scheduling priority. When you call or submit a request, please let us know if you purchased your appliance from our store.
